Hospitals, healthcare workers and first responders across the country, including in the Chicago region, are in critical need of face masks and other personal protective equipment.

Hospitals most critically need N95 masks, which can help healthcare workers and responders avoid airborne particles and liquids when treating patients, protecting them from contracting infection with COVID-19. These masks are commonly used by construction, dental, veterinary and other workers.

Donations are needed immediately of the following items: surgical masks, N95 masks, gowns, bunny suits, disposable face shields, boot covers, sterile cotton-tipped swabs (specifically BD #220531)

Other items that may needed in the next few weeks: disposable gloves (any kind), sterile cotton-tipped swabs, M3 reusable masks + N100 cartridges, goggles, non-disposable face shields (for use with chemicals and/or machining)

The Chicago Quantum Exchange (CQE) is a growing hub for the science and engineering of quantum information. It is headquartered at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering and includes six member institutions throughout the Midwest, several of which have affiliated hospitals.
